• Eminent Gujarati critic, research scholar, editor-in-chief of the Gujarati Vishwakosh, President, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad Expert in dramatics.

• He has contributed numerous articles and has written books in Gujarati, most prominent among them being the history of the Gujarati literature initially published in two volumes in 1956 and 1966 respectively and subsequently in five volumes, between 1993 and 1995.

• Awards : He was awarded the prestigious `Ranjitram Suwarna Chandrak' (Gold Medal) for the year 1994 by the Gujarat Sahitya Sabha, Ahmedabad, `Gujarat Gaurav Puraskar' for the year 1998 by the Vishwa Gujarati Samaj and `Gaurav Puraskar' for the year 1998 by the Gujarat Sahitya Academy, Gandhinagar.

• 1940–78 : Taught Gujarati in the collegiate branch. Retired in 1978 as Principal, Arts college, Modasa (Dist. Sabarkantha – Gujarat).

• Played a leading role in the development of the multi-faculty educational complex at Modasa.
